Time for a new journey! Follow me!

After some serious consideration, working with redirects, archiving posts, and second guessing myself about a million and one times…it is time for me to announce that Curls.nu is no longer going to be updated with content. Curls.nu got me through college, grad school, and early “adult” life and I loved connecting with each and every one of you…and of course educating you about all of the epic animal friendly and crunchy products out there. For a while this blog turned into a “job.” That’s not something I regret, but it wasn’t originally what I wanted either. I love connecting with others and really enjoy working with brands and will continue to do so while being more mindful and intentional about the content offered. Without further ado, I invite you to come visit me on http://blissandblessings.com where I’ll be working on curating crunchy cruelty free mama content with heart! Let’s go on another adventure!

I’m 30 and Having a Blog Crisis

Seriously! Lawd, I don’t even know where to start with my midlife blogging crisis. It is the real deal. You hit 30, maybe become a parent, maybe even get a new job and all of a sudden you’re “Mom”, “Wife”, “Homeowner”, “Multimillionaire.” Working on that last one I guess? Anyway, this blog has always been all about beauty, lifestyle, and adding in my own teachery nerdy twists and views on life. Lately, I’ve been focusing on GETTING THINGS DONE because I have a kid and life gets crazy. But, my blogs have been lacking that personality. I’ve been annoyed with my layouts, but as long as that product gets posted, I was fine with that. Well, not so much. I’m keeping this blog all about my beauty and lifestyle obsessions, but I’m adding in the authenticity that I used to have. The passion. The drive. The freaking personality! I had it, lost it, decided to ignore it, and now I’m back to it. For real. Am I still going to reach out to companies and try all of their amazing products? You bet! Am I going to talk about the newest way to make tempeh? Probably! And, am I going to gush about my adorable baby and pup who also follow in my crunchy hippy ways? Duh. But I’m going to try and do it more often, more personally, and less boxed and packaged. I’m going to talk about lifestyle and content that matters to ME and hopefully YOU! I also hope the brands I’ve come to build great relationships with like Awesome Bars, Pacifica, Crazy Rumors, and more will come to enjoy it too. Not to mention I have a more “bloggy” less “corporate” look and feel. Starting with this trippy SnapChat filter. So, are you still with me? Let’s do this thing already! I missed the old blissandblessings.com/curlsdotnu. I’m happy to say she’s back and better than ever!

Pacifica Beauty Coconut Roundup & Review

The end of summer’s got me feeling some kind of way. I go back to work, the weather gets a little cooler, and all of a sudden the holidays are upon us and it’s snowing. Ok. Maybe I’m a little dramatic. But, thankfully Pacifica Beauty Coconut products are around all year long. This summer they introduced some amazing new products and some old Pacifica Beauty Coconut favorites. I couldn’t stop and had to have them all. So, without further ado…the vegan coconut love you need to prevent your end of summer depression! Hot Vegan Probiotic Spice and Rehab Mask – This mask was HOT! Literally. Like it was full of amazing spices like ginger and black pepper to stimulate the pores and loosen the the gunk trapped under the skin. Excellent! I loved how light this mask felt and how it didn’t make my skin overly tight. However, if you have sensitive skin or sunburned skin, this might not be the mask for you. It definitely left my pores a little smaller and my skin a little cleaner. Coconut Probiotic Water Rehab Cream – Another new Pacifica Beauty Coconut product! I really enjoyed using this cream throughout the summer. My usual cream is thicker so sometimes it was nice to have something on that I could barely feel. Aloe, coconut water, and actual live probiotics make skin feel pampered and refreshed after a day at the beach. The scent is light and the tube is easy to through in a bag. Pacifica Sun and Lip Care in Peach – A Target exclusive! Because you need a reason to go, right? This SPF infused lip balm in peach is made with an awesome water resistant formula. I loved sliding this on right after a day in the sun. Also, as ya’ll know by now…my makeup routine has become, ah-hem…quicker. This balm was a great pick me up on the days where I had to run out for errands with the little, but didn’t have time to put on a full face. It’s light and has a great feel and no waxy taste or residue. Pacifica Purify Coconut Water Cleaning Wipes – I’ve spoken about these wipes so many times on this blog! Again, I love them. They are quick, easy to use, and WORK! My oily Italian skin does not do well without a good foaming cleanser. BUT–with these bad boys on standby I don’t feel guilty about skipping the cleanser. Pacifica Underarm Deodorant Wipes – These coconut milk deodorant wipes are a fan favorite! Sage and witch hazel help to banish odor. They even worked on my extremely gross husband who works outside. I love how essential oils and natural plant extracts work to keep you fresh and clean without nasty toxic chemicals. These wipes stand up to a day of working outside, and a quick yoga session and smell amazing! Coconut Water Cleaning Tonic – I saved this bad boy for last because I’ve been shopping for a toner that doesn’t eventually annoy me. I love a good homemade toner, but sometimes I just need something different. Enter this cleansing tonic. Coconut water and grapefruit cleanse gently and effectively. I use this every night before bed and I can feel a little tingle in my pores each time I use it. I pay extra attention to some problem areas around my nose and chin. This tonic is a MUST for my oily/combo skinned ladies and gents. What are your summer picks? And which new Pacifica product can I get you hooked on next? Looking for Too Faced Discount Codes? I’ve Got Your Back!

I love Too Faced Cosmetics. They are cruelty free (note: their parent company is not, make your own decisions there), offer amazing products that do exactly what they’re supposed to do, and they made me look pretty on my wedding day almost four years ago. Safe to say, I’m a devotee of this cult classic brand. But, like most luxe brands Too Faced can be less than budget friendly which is why I rely on finding promo codes to help make my obsession a little friendlier on my wallet. But, how many of you have searched endlessly for a decent discount code? I know I have. But my challenges can be your rewards. Let me show you how to score some amazing Too Faced deals without driving yourself crazy. I used to rely on Google and that usually brought me to RetailMeNot.com. You can see here that I’ve sorted by popularity, but there are not any true single use codes that I can access quickly. Most of them are free shipping or something like a free gift to entice you to buy more product. Not my style. There are no popular coupons to help me out here. And if you know me, you know I need some more Too Faced love in my makeup box. On to the next website… I go back to Google and decide to see what they have in store for me. Wow. Where do we start? You could literally spend all day looking for a promo code only to find nothing valuable, or to just simply give up. It’s frustrating. Sometimes you can go to the website itself like I did.  BAM! With your first purchase you can get 20% off by signing up for their mailing list. But, what if you’re a brand devotee like me? And this ISN’T your first purchase? That’s when I headed to dealspotr.com and searched for Too Faced. Just like that I was able to search through single use codes, and the best part is that Dealspotr validates the deals. So, you’re not spending time aimlessly trying codes that simply don’t work or expired. OR…even more annoying, just bring you back to the main webpage of the store. Once you choose your code, simply click and follow the simple directions. I copied the code, went to Too Faced to get my most FAVORITE highighter and primer (the key to not looking like a zombie when you’re a mama to an 8 month old and boom! And…saving money is awesome! Bookmark Dealspotr. They have over 5 million coupons and advanced code-finding tools, more pros use Dealspotr to find coupons than any other site. Leaving that promo box empty? Ain’t nobody got time for that!

Product Review Spotlight: LoveBug Probiotics

Being a new Mom is no joke, and having to go back to work took a serious toll on my body, mind, and overall energy level. Let’s talk about what it’s like to be undead, shall we? Ask any new Mom. We are The Walking Dead and are most certainly more dangerous than actual flesh eaters. I always tried to keep a clean diet and as a vegetarian I also try to make sure I’m getting all the yummies I need to stay well. Add in nursing? Well, I needed some help after Leo was born. So, when LoveBug Probiotics and the CEO and Momma behind them, Ashley, reached out to me to try them out I basically jumped through the computer screen. Ashley is a Mom who realized her family needed an extra boost of good healthy goodness. Most of us don’t get enough healthy bacterias and are off balance due to the Standard American Diet. Scary, huh? LoveBug is different because rather than capsules, LB has a biotract blend that delivers 15x more live cultures right to the gut, where they need to be! They are small enough to be easily swallowed. No horsepills here!! I also love that the company is woman and mom owned. Let’s lift each other up, right? After I had Leo I turned into the college vegetarian. I lived on pizza, french fries, and pasta because it was easy and I had a newborn. Thanks to nursing I still lost a lot of weight, but I didn’t feel awesome. I also knew what I was eating, Leo was eating too. So, I started to clean up my diet again and added in “Here’s the Skinny” which helps to support a healthy gut and energy levels. I felt sluggish because I was fueling my body with junk. I felt great adding in my salads and soups, but really got a great energy boost once these babies kicked in. I felt the full effects within about two weeks and loved it! When I went back to work after my leave, I wanted to make sure those nasty middle schoolers didn’t get me sick. I almost escaped until the first week of June. Right when I went back I added “Colds Suck” into my routine to boost my immunity. It has ZINC, ECHINACEA and VITAMIN C which made a trifecta of gut health and immune boosting power. I loved this and will include it in my regimen throughout flu season this upcoming year! As a new Mom, or any lady who loves feeling ah-hem, balanced & fresh, Yeast is a Beast is for you. If you’ve taken antibiotics and they’ve wrecked that delicate lady flora, you need these in your life. I also love that this probiotic comes packed with Cranberry to further promote urinary health.   LoveBug is the real deal ya’ll! I’m loving their clear ingredients, upfront information, and of course the powerful good bacteria in each tablet. Their names are super cute, too. They even have probiotics for the littles, which I’ll look into as Leo gets bigger. Do you have probiotics in your daily routine? Start here! Current Obsessions: Mom Version

It’s been a little over 5 months since the tornado known as Leo has entered into my life. And wow! I’m actually sitting at a computer in something other than pajamas (going back to work makes you feel good about wearing real clothes again), and without someone crying for me. Despite being a Mom now, I’ve got some sweet new obsessions (and some old ones that have returned), to tell you all about! And because I’m a Mom who lives under a rock now, tell me what I should be loving! ***Just want to let you know I started writing this post in March and now it’s almost May…
  • LulaRoe: Despite the claims that their leggings rip like wet TP, I’m digging these bad boys. They feel so silky soft and make me look streamlined with their yoga waistband.
  • Coconut oil: for my baby, boobs, dog, husband, and just about everything else.
  • Lactation cookies: homemade or Booby Boons (peep my Instagram over there—->) these are delicious and healthy!
  • Pedicures: because my feet were BUSTED since November. And yes, it took me about 3 months to cut my nails.
mom life
I’d make this longer, but you and I both know I have a little one yelling at me to pay attention to him, dammit! What are you into lately?
