Makeup has never really been my strong suit…but skincare has always been a passion of mine. Even when I would come home in my 20s blackout drunk I made sure to wash my face (even if it meant combatting the spins and falling asleep in my clothes). When I was a kid I remembered Julia Roberts (yep…giving away my age here) saying that she ALWAYS washed her face at the end of the day no matter how tired she was. For some reason that always stuck in my mind and once I was old enough to say goodbye to Noxzema and Ten-O-Six astringent cleansers, I made sure a good skincare routine was always part of my day.
My daily skincare routine is pretty straight forward, but the products I use are plant based, cruelty free, and a few are DIY tonics and concoctions of my own.
Wash with doTERRA’s Facial Cleanser. This cleanser comes complete with Peppermint to wake the skin up and Lavender and Tea Tree to soothe and cleanse. I have always loved gel cleansers, but RECENTLY switched to a cream cleanser as this one has anti-aging properties as well.
Moisturize with Ursa Major Golden Hour Recovery Cream. A lot of people use this as a night cream, but since I’ve ditched primers and concealers I use this as a cure all and a base for my makeup. This makes a nice primer for my eyebrows, ha!
At nighttime I wash with the same cleanser, but my night care has a few more additions to it. I love using a toner to get rid of the excess dirt and grime from the day. My personal picks are: Indie Lee’s CoQ10, which also makes a great setting spray or my own DIY recipe which includes:
3 tbsp Witch Hazel
1 tbsp natural Aloe Vera (I get mine from Thrive Market)
20 drops Tea Tree
20 drops Lavender
10 drops Lemon
10 drops Ylang Ylang OR Roman Chamomile***ask me where and how to get the ingredients–quality matters
Finally, I moisturize with doTERRA Hydrating Cream or dermaE’s Hydrating Night Cream. Once a week I do a detoxifying face mask which I’ll talk about in another post!
I don’t know about you…but I think it’s important to protect the largest organ on your body! What products are you currently enjoying? Send me your best DIYs!
