Love Your Body in 2014 with Tone It Up

My fitness journey has been an ongoing process since 2007 when I first lost 50 lbs, but with moving, finishing grad school, and working a new job (and some side freelance gigs, too!) my fitness suffered for some time. I still had my trusty gym membership, but I felt like I needed something more. Enter December 2013, Tashina (who I’ve known longer than just this past month), and the Tone It Up Love Your Body Challenge.

The Love Your Body Challenge started on January 1 and ends on February 14, just in time for Valentine’s Day. I started on January 1 and am continuing to do my regular gym routine with the Tone It Up workouts and the schedule that GORGEOUS trainers Karena and Katrina provide for you via e-mail, their website, and on their social networks. For example, on my schedule tonight is Yoga (my usual routine) right after my Tone It Up “Love Your Abs” workout. Each day there’s something different and fun to do and I can do them at home with my weights in my living room.

So far the workouts have been a lot of fun and it’s great to receive feedback from other Tone It Up members who have seen my Instagram and Twitter check-ins, but the following line from Karena and Katrina’s challenge post states that you, “have a hot date with YOURSELF.” Self-love has always been a challenge for me as I’m sure it still is for many women, and that philosophy is at the heart of their program. So, I’ll be continuing the challenge and posting on Instagram and Twitter, too. I’m excited to see how this will keep me motivated beyond February 14!

  1. I have been looking to start a fitness regimen lately. I’m not really worried about my weight, I’m more just looking to be healthier overall. I’m not particularly athletic at all, but this seems like a program that could work for me. And since I have a pretty odd schedule some days, something like this could definitely work. I’m not one for the gym, I hate the inconvenience since I don’t have one here that close to home. I’ll have to check out the site. Thanks!

  2. Best of luck with the challenge! My fitness took a dive when I had to stop playing rugby, I stopped being interested in sports and fitness after that, but then my brother made me watch Rocky and I got really inspired again! It sounds a bit stupid but it’s true! It’s great to set a goal date too, gives you something to work towards! Hope it all goes great for you =]

  3. Ahh! I love Tone it Up! I’m subscribed to their YouTube and am a part of their mailing list, but I don’t actually follow their routines. I’m perfectly fine with my workout routines, but they do provide a large amount of motivation!

Good luck on your journey! :)

  4. Good luck with the challenge! It is so important to be happy with your body. Sure there are things I would like to improve on my body (tone my abs mostly) but I’m generally pretty happy with the way that I look. I can’t remember when I started to like my body. I know I was not always that way.
