So, you wanted to know more about me? Well, you’re in luck! As an only child and an English teacher, talking about myself is one of (many) things I do best. Just ask my students!
I hail from the East Coast, began blogging as early as 1999, and never stopped. Throughout the years my blog evolved from a personal website/journal to a health & beauty blog, and now to a cruelty free beauty and natural lifestyle blog with a teacher’s twist. I’ve always been passionate about living a healthy lifestyle, but my NPR-loving husband got me thinking about the evils of corporations and the sneaky ways that consumers are “poisoned” by what they eat and use on a daily basis. So, in 2014, I made the pledge to purchase cruelty free beauty products, cosmetics, and household items. Soon after, for Lent, I gave up meat and never went back. Eating a vegetarian diet while choosing ethical and SAFE products just seems to align for me and I feel great.
I think it’s important to mention, too, that my husband, Keith (who you’ll hear about often), does not follow the same diet/food practices that I do. While he uses and supports the same cruelty free products (he loves Kiss My Face shaving cream and lots of Lush products), he did not adapt to a new way of eating. I’m more than okay with that! We’re a partnership and that means that we accept, love, and respect one another’s decisions without being judgey, right?
On November 21, 2016, we welcomed our baby boy Leo Lucius into the world after laboring at home and making it to 8cm before going to the doctor. We delivered naturally without any interventions, drugs, fetal monitors, or IVs with the help of hypnobirthing and my kick ass Mom and husband! I also encapsulated my placenta which was one of my birth goals. Leo weighed in at 8.12 lbs & 21 inches long. He’s the cutest thing to ever come out of my body!
What else do we do besides spend too much money at Whole Foods? We explore old cemeteries, pick through flea markets, binge-watch “Orange is the New Black,” and play with our furbaby, Myles, a Golden Retriever who we welcomed into our family in May of 2015.
